Krane Alis lives in a dark, dreamy dance-filled world, creating upbeat songs with lyrics that traverse existence, death and the darkness within ourselves. Those are her favorite songs to write, the ones that make you want to dance but also speak to something real and often using humor, she tries to encapsulate the strange complexity of being human. She feels a deep sense of connection to making music, as it has always been something that allows the pressure to ease, the weirdness to flow, and all the stuck things inside to become free.
She believes in making genre-defying music, drawing from inspirations that span across many eras and artists. Her sound weaves the synth-driven influence of ’80s royalty like Eurythmics, Blondie, and David Bowie with the modern indie-electronic edge of LCD Soundsystem, Phantogram, Mindchatter, Caribou, and more. Creating bass-laden tracks that will make you dance, maybe laugh, maybe cry.
She made her first album, Shake What Sticks, in her home studio/closet, working mostly in the late hours when the world outside was finally quiet. Both an intensely cathartic and isolated experience, it was the first window into her creative internal world.
Currently working on her second album–in another, different but similar home studio–she hopes to bring new sounds and even more dance-fueled energy into this next release.
